Facebook Developer Circles Vancouver:

Community Challenge Build Days 2019!

CONNECT   |   ENGAGE   |   LEARN   |   BUILD

Welcome to Facebook Developer Circles Community Challenge: Build Days 2019!

We invite all hackathon enthusiasts and forever learners to join us for two fun days of learning, collaborating, and building software applications using at least one of three featured hot technologies: React360, Spark AR, and/or HTML5 Games. To compete for regional and global prizes (over $165,000 USD), submit built softwares in one of the three themed categories: Productivity and Utility, Gaming and Entertainment, and Social Good.

Build Days is a global community challenge that engages the developers community and takes on a sprint hackathon approach to create and build amazing softwares together over two evenings. We will have on-the-spot team formations, ideation and technical mentoring by facilitators, and of course lots of hacking time!

Main Requirement:

Build (or update) software that falls into any of the three categories and incorporates at least one of the three featured technologies: React360, Spark AR, and/or HTML5 Games. Teams are also encouraged to integrate other Facebook products in their solution, e.g. Messenger, Graph API and other open source tools.

Categories:

• Gaming and Entertainment (including applications that users find fun and may play with)

• Productivity and Utility (including applications that make users more efficient)

• Social Good (including applications that help others and/or benefit the greater good)

Participating teams are encouraged to keep working after the event and submit softwares fitting into one of three categories by the global deadline September 20th. There are over $165,000 USD in prizes for regional and global winners, with the global first place winner walking away with up to $25,000 USD! More details about the community challenge can be found here. This is a free event but there are only limited seating available. So RSVP now and get ready to build! See you at Build Days!

Don't forget to join our Facebook group  to stay tuned in for all future happenings, and gain access to many free resources to come!

Land acknowledgement

Facebook Developer Circles Vancouver respectfully acknowledges that we are gathered on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples –Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. As guests to this beautiful Land, we are thankful and grateful, and consider it a privilege to be able to work, live and gather here. We recognize that acts of colonization created many inequities for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. As an organization, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to work towards reconciliation and to remain open to suggestions and consultations, especially with Indigenous communities.
